The Reading ‘o the Green

When other people start to think of shamrocks and the luck of the Irish, I start thinking of reading about leprechauns and the Irish.

I have a few books with Irish folk tales that I enjoy reading year after year.  Those books are:

Fair, Brown and Trembling:  An Irish Cinderella Story by Jude Daly (E Daly)

Jamie O’Rourke and the Big Potato by Tomie DePaola (E Depao)

Saint Patrick and the Peddler by Margaret Hodges (J 398.22 Hod)

and

Tim O’Toole and the Wee Folk by Gerald McDermott (E 398.29415 McD)

I also especially enjoyed the YA book The New Policeman by Kate Thompson (Teen Fiction Thompson), which combines Irish music and dance, time travel and a visit to the land of the fairies.
